Questions
Answers
Can I see what the videos will look like on my connection before I buy?

Absolutely! Because we know your personal viewing experience is important in your decision to join our subscription service, we’ve made it easy for you to preview exactly how the Capoeira videos will look on your primary internet connection before you buy. Simply visit our Video Training Center to preview short sample videos at low, medium, and high quality renderings to test which quality size works best on your connection speed. Though you can click between the three levels of quality at any time, the quality you select will default to your last quality choice every time you visit and revisit the site. It’s that easy! If you’re experiencing problems viewing the Capoeira videos, consult all the FAQs in the Video Support section or contact us with additional questions.

What are the minimum system requirements to view your videos?

Internet Provider. For your convenience, our videos can be viewed in three speeds: low, medium, and high. To give you the best viewing experience possible, be sure to choose the appropriate video size for the speed of your internet connection. A high-speed internet connection (cable modem, DSL) is strongly recommended for viewing high quality videos. Check your connection speed here. We recommend 350 kb/second as the absolute minimum.

Hardware and Software. Our minimum system requirements match those for Adobe’s Flash Player. Flash player has been tested on a variety of platforms. If you have trouble viewing the videos, check that your system matches their requirements by visiting their website here.

The Flash Player plug-in. All of our videos are delivered as Flash videos. Adobe’s Flash Player is a free plug-in (a smaller application designed to help a larger one) that makes it possible to play videos that are high quality on your browser without taking up too much bandwidth. Our site is created to work with the most recent Flash Player. If you have trouble viewing videos, you may need to download the latest Flash Player and restart your internet browser. The download is free, and you can get it at the Adobe website.

Will I have problems if I have a firewall or anti-virus software?

You may have a firewall or anti-virus software on your personal computer such as ZoneAlarm or Norton Firewall, or you may be part of a corporate network or may subscribe to an internet service provider that blocks our videos. If you have antivirus software, be sure to add LearnCapoeira.com as a trusted website. If you are on a corporate network, contact your network administrator.

If you are running Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista, and you have chosen the “high” security level, you will need to add our site to your list of trusted sites. First make sure you are on the LearnCapoeira.com site. Then select the “Tools” menu along the top of your screen and choose “Internet Options.” Choose the tab that says “security” and choose “Trusted Sites.” Next click on the button that says “Sites,” and be sure that the box that says “require server verification for all sites in this zone” is checked. Finally, enter “http://www.LearnCapoeira.com” and click “add” and then “close.”

In Norton Personal Firewall or Norton Internet Security, open the program, then double-click “Privacy Control.” Click “Advanced.” Go to the bottom and click “Add Site.” In the dialogue box that comes up, type “www.LearnCapoeira.com.” Click “OK.” Wait for the site to come up in the Options window. Click on the site name. Click on the “Global Settings” tab. Look for the section about visited sites. Make sure “Use default settings” is not selected. Click “Permit.” Click “OK.”

Why can’t I see the videos?

If you can’t see the videos, in almost every case, the solution is easy: you need to download the most recent Flash Player. The download is free, and you can get it at the Adobe website. All the instructions you will need to install the Flash player are on the site. Note that during installation Adobe Flash will prompt you to close all your browser windows and reopen. And once you’re done, the videos should work.

If you have a firewall or anti-virus software on your computer, or if you are running Windows Vista, the software may be blocking our videos. Be sure to add LearnCapoeira.com as a trusted website. If you are running Windows Vista, select the “Tools” menu along the top of your screen, and choose “Internet Options.” Choose the tab that says “Security” and choose “Trusted Sites.” Next click on the button that says “Sites,” and in the dialog box deselect “Require server verification for all sites in this zone.” Finally, add “http://www.LearnCapoeira.com” and close the dialog box.

Why can I hear the video but not see it?

If you can hear but not see the videos, the most likely problem is that you do not have the most recent Flash player installed on your computer. The download is free, and you can get it at the Adobe website. All the instructions you will need to install the Flash player are on the site. Note that during installation Adobe Flash will prompt you to close all your browser windows and reopen.

If you are having this problem and you have a dial-up modem, it is possible your slower connection is getting in the way. Truly, to take advantage of the content on LearnCapoeira.com, you may consider upgrading to a Broadband connection.

If you have a Broadband connection and can only hear but not see the videos, either you have a slow Broadband connection or the network is especially congested during the time you are watching. If you think your connection may be slow, you can find out by checking your connection speed here. We recommend 350 kb/second as the absolute minimum. If connection speed is not your problem, try viewing the videos at a different time of day when you expect the network to be less busy.

Why does the video sometimes skip or freeze?

If the videos skip or freeze, your internet connection may not able to stream the Capoeira videos as fast as the videos can play. Our Capoeira videos are hosted on a server and are streamed to your computer live as you view them. Your connection has a limit to the amount of information that can pass through it at a time, and if your connection cannot stay ahead of your video, the Flash Player will buffer the information until it is caught up. If you think your connection may be slow, you can find out by Checking your connection speed here. We recommend 350 kb/second as the absolute minimum. If you have chosen the medium or high video quality, try choosing the low video quality. If you still find the video pausing or stopping as you watch, pause the video yourself and wait for ten seconds. You can get up and ginga little while you wait. This will allow more video content to be streamed to your computer so it stays ahead of what you are watching. Push play again. If enough video content has been streamed to your computer, the Capoeira video should play uninterrupted until done.

What are cookies and how do I know if they are enabled?

When you visit most websites, small pieces of text are passed to your browser to store that allow the site to remember selections you have made, such as what you had in your shopping cart. These are called cookies. They are so small that they take up almost no memory on your computer, and they allow websites to be recognize you and provide a higher level of service to you, because you can pick up where you left off, saving favorites or resuming online chats. Once a website has put a cookie on your browser, only that same website can access it again. Other sites you visit will not be able to find out what choices you made or what information you provided on a different site.

Most cookies store their small pieces of information on your hard drive, allowing you to return to a site at a different time and pick up where you left off. However, a different kind of cookie, “session cookies” are stored on your browser only until you close the browser window. The next time you return to the site it will be as if you’d never visited before.

Most browsers allow cookies by default, because they are considered to be safe. They cannot carry a virus because they are not put into action like a computer program is; they are only pieces of text. They remember only the information you have provided for the website and cannot access information stored anywhere else on you computer. A type of cookie called a “third party cookie” has given all cookies a bad connotation. Third party cookies are used by advertisers to track which ads you view on any site that uses their service, and some people feel this is an invasion of their privacy. Most browsers will allow you to disable third party cookies if you like.

Like most sites, our site uses cookies to remember your history and the preferences you’ve provided. Below are instructions to enable cookies on a variety of browsers.

Can I download your videos?

Once you choose a Capoeira training video to watch, that video is streamed from a server that stores the video file to your computer as you begin watching. The Capoeira videos will not use up any space on your hard drive. This means you can access the Capoeira videos and all your preferences from anywhere that has a computer and high-speed internet, whether it is your computer or someone else’s. This also means, however, that you cannot download the Capoeira videos to your own computer memory.
